The station built for every Cypriot who carries the island in their heart — whether you're in London, Melbourne, Johannesburg or New York. From the tsiattistá of our grandparents to the rhythms of the whole wide world.
Andreas Jackson — DJ Riza — is a child of the Cypriot diaspora. Born and raised between two worlds: the warmth of the island and the energy of North London. He built Greek Roots Radio because there was no station that spoke to his community the way it deserved to be spoken to.
His name says it all. Riza means root in Greek. And roots are what this station is about — Cypriot roots, family roots, musical roots, cultural roots. The things that don't change no matter how far from the island you find yourself.
Greek Roots Radio was built for the half-million Greek Cypriots who live outside the island — in the terraced houses of North London, the suburbs of Melbourne, the townships of Johannesburg, the apartments of New York.
We play the music your grandparents danced to, the songs your parents sang in the kitchen, and the world music that reminds you that Cyprus was always part of something bigger — a crossroads of civilisations at the centre of the Mediterranean.
Requests, shoutouts, artist submissions — wherever you are in the world, DJ Riza wants to hear from you.
